A large building located on the lakefront edge of the historic centre of Oggiogno, with a sunny and absolutely peaceful courtyard. The building has three floors and was used as an inn until the mid-1980s.
The small hamlet of Oggiogno stands on a rocky spur behind Cannero Riviera, in the direction of Cima Morissolo and Alpe Colle. Here, winding streets and arches reminiscent of its medieval origins coexist with magnificent resort villas built at the end of the 19th century. The village is framed by the typical low mountain landscape of the Cannero hinterland: on the mountain side, green woods and meadows, on the opposite side, the dazzling blue of the lake.
Oggiogno is a small village that cannot be accessed by car, but only on foot or by means of transport such as handcarts or motorised carts. The property is located just 250 metres from the public car park. A romantic, ancient mule track of about 20/30 minutes connects Oggiogno to Cannero Riviera through centuries-old chestnut woods and fabulous views of the lake. The driveable road leading to the hamlet branches off from the SS34 Lake Maggiore road at an altitude of 200 metres above sea level in Cassino and reaches Oggiogno at 500 metres above sea level after 3.5 kilometres. The centre of Cannero Riviera and its Lido are 5.5 kilometres away.
The building, dating back to the late nineteenth century, has three floors above ground and a basement, and is composed as follows:
basement: large cellar/wood store, boiler room and stairwell;
ground floor: large open space consisting of living room with fireplace and dining room with fireplace, kitchen, hallway, toilet and storage room under the stairs;
first floor: four bedrooms, hallway, bathroom and stairwell;
second floor: four bedrooms, hallway, bathroom and small terrace (at the rear)
Independent natural gas heating (on all floors but not in all rooms). Two fireplaces and large economical stove on the ground floor. Although the last complete renovation of the property dates back to the late 1960s, the entire complex has always been used and constantly maintained and is therefore in good condition.
The property could be used as a large single-family home, divided into two units or returned to its original use as a B&B or holiday home.
